Things To Know About H9 Bulbs

The lamp belongs to the 1st group of automotive light bulbs and doesn`t have any restrictions on usage. Due to it, you can take an H9 lamp and use it in any car you like. So, no matter whether you want to use it for headlights, fog lights, brake lights, signaling lights, or any other purpose, it will fit.

The H9 is a halogen lamp with a PGJ19-5 base. It is also nice to use this socket type for a variety of other applications. This base is used in some other popular lamp models, such as HB3 (9005), HB4 (9006), H11 (880), and others. The use of this base allows the creation of a wide range of different light effects.

The bulb emits white light with a color temperature of 6500K. With such a color temperature, this lamp may be used as a headlight. The power of an H9 lamp is 12 V: 65 W, and that is pretty cool because a lot of other automotive light bulbs have a power of 55 W only. Also, the brightness level of this bulb is 16000 lumens which makes it one of the brightest bulbs in its class.

Is H9 high beam or low beam?

This is definitely the lamp for high beam because it is very bright. The fact is that high beam headlights have to be much brighter than low beam headlights. And the H9 bulb is one of the brightest options on the market. Besides, when we talk about low beams, we should understand that cars have different types of low beam headlights. So, there are some models that use an H9 bulb for low beams as well.

Is H9 bulb an LED?

Yes, this bulb uses LED technology. Light-emitting diodes are very popular nowadays because they have a lot of advantages over traditional incandescent bulbs. LEDs are much more energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan. That is why many manufacturers are now using LED bulbs for their car headlights. But at the same time, you can find H9 halogen lamps and H9 xenon lamps on the market. So, it all depends on what type of H9 bulb you are looking for.

Is A H9 The Same As A H11 Bulb?

H9 bulbs are not an even swap for H11 bulbs. To install H9 bulbs, you must first cut a metal tab on the exterior of the housing and then trim a plastic tab inside the connector housing. The micro side cutter is the best tool for this job, but if you don't have one, diagonal pliers or a Dremel will work too.

In most cases, H11 bulbs are a direct replacement for H9 bulbs. The only difference is that H9 bulbs have slightly different electrical connectors, so they are not interchangeable. So, in order to understand whether two bulbs are interchangeable or not, you should consider a few general rules.

First, the socket type must be the same. Second, the voltage must be the same. Third, the power of the bulbs should not differ by more than 15%. And fourth, the bulbs should have the same base type.

What Bulb Is Equivalent To H9?

There are H11, H8, H16 (L-Shaped) lamps that may serve as an equivalent to H9. The thing is that modern cars are equipped with a wide range of different light bulbs, and it is not always easy to find an equivalent for a particular bulb type. That is why we have compiled a list of some popular equivalents for the H9 bulb:

  • H11: This lamp has the same base type as the H9 and can be used as a direct replacement in most cases. The only difference between these two bulbs is that the H9 has slightly different electrical connectors, so they are not interchangeable.
  • H8: This lamp has a different base type but can be used as an equivalent in some cases. The power of this bulb is slightly higher than that of the H9, so it is not always a good idea to use it as a replacement.
  • H16 (L-Shaped): This lamp has a different base type but can be used as an equivalent in some cases. The power of this bulb is slightly higher than that of the H9, so it is not always a good idea to use it as a replacement.

As you can see, there are a few bulbs that may serve as an equivalent to the H9. So, no need to worry if you can`t find any of those.
