General Specifications

D4S bulbs are a type of HID, or high-intensity discharge, light. Like all HID lights, D4S bulbs produce a more intense light than traditional halogen headlights. This makes them ideal for use in foggy or rainy conditions, as well as for nighttime driving.

These gas discharge bulbs feature the P32d-5 base and are used for projector systems. For example, if your vehicle came with HID headlights, it likely has D4S bulbs. Projector systems are usually found on higher-end vehicles. Moreover, they are Mercury-free. so you shouldn`t be worried about environmental impact.

With a nominal power of 42 V / 35 W, these lamps are able to produce eye-pleasing light. The light emitted from these 4,500 Kelvin color temperature lamps is more pleasant for the eyes because it closely resembles natural daylight. Furthermore, the impressive intensity of their light provides better visibility on the road compared to conventional halogen lights with 3,200 Kelvin color temperatures.

These replacement bulbs are of the same high quality as those originally fitted in vehicles with HID headlights. They provide just as much light while using less electricity. That is a good aspect when you want to save some money on your car`s upkeep.

D4S bulbs are the perfect replacements for your HID (High-Intensity Discharge) headlights. These bulbs use less electric current and provide impressive output without breaking the bank.

What cars use D4S?

The following cars use D4S 35W HID bulbs: 2006-2016 Lexus ES. 2006-2016 Lexus GS. 2006-2016 Lexus IS220 and IS350. And that is not even a full list. So, if you have a car with HID headlights, it is very likely that it uses D4S bulbs. Moreover, in case you are the owner of an older car model and want to upgrade your headlights to HID, you will need a D4S bulb.

What is a D4 bulb?

The D4 size of factory HID bulbs is a newer version of the D2 (S/R) bulb, and it doesn't contain mercury. The 42V operating voltage for D4 lights is much lower than the 85V required by D2 bulbs. When using either type of bulb, be sure to use corresponding ballasts; mixing systems isn't advised.

What are D-type bulbs?

All lightbulbs produce a yellowish-white hue, but some emit more than others. Clear or frosted bulbs are available in several shapes, such as general (A), globe (G), or decorative (D).

What Is The Difference Between D2S And D4S Bulb?

These three headlights vary most significantly in their environmental impacts. For example, while D1S and D2S bulbs emit mercury, the D4S is completely safe and contains no mercury whatsoever. There are additional dissimilarities between the headlight sizes and technology.

The difference in light quality and quantity is probably the most essential distinction. The light emitted by a D4S bulb is much brighter and closer to natural sunlight than that of a D1S or D2S. These two lamps are usually mixed up by drivers because they look so alike. However, they are not the same, and it is essential to know the difference because they cannot be used interchangeably.

The D4S bulb has a P32d-5 base and emits light at 4500K color temperature, while the D2S uses a P32d-2 base and emits light at 6500K. The D4S is also more energy-efficient than the D2S, consuming 35 watts compared to the D2S`s 55 watts. The use cases are also different. The D4S is mostly used in projector headlights, while the D2S is used in reflector headlights.

So, if you want to upgrade your car`s headlights or replace a broken bulb, make sure you get the right one. And now that you know the difference between these two types of bulbs, it should be easy to choose the right one for your car.

Can You Interchange D4S Lamp?

Whenever thinking of bulb replacement, it is essential to know that there are different types of D4S bulbs, and some might not fit your car. That is why it is never a good idea to interchange them. Furthermore, while some D4S bulbs might physically fit into the headlight housing designed for a different type of bulb, they will not work correctly. So, if you are not sure which type of bulb you need, it is always best to consult an expert or the owner`s manual for your car.

For instance, D3S and D4S bulbs look very similar, but they are not interchangeable. The D3S is a bit shorter than the D4S, so it will not fit into a housing designed for the D4S. Also, they have different bases, so even if you manage to fit the D3S into the D4S housing, it will not work correctly.

The same goes for D2S and D4S bulbs. While they might look the same, they are not interchangeable because they have different bases. So, if you try to put a D2S bulb into a housing designed for a D4S bulb, it will not work.

Therefore, when replacing your car`s headlights, make sure you get the correct type of bulb, or you might end up with a headlight that doesn`t work correctly.
