9005 Bulb Cross Reference | See Same Bulbs as 9005

General features

If you spotted the 9005 bulbs in the shop, you would be forgiven for thinking that it was an ordinary light bulb. But this little guy has some pretty neat features that make it stand out from the crowd. For starters, the 9005 bulbs are made from a durable material that can withstand high temperatures. This means that it's less likely to shatter or break if it's dropped or knocked around. It belongs to the 1st group of automotive light bulbs and thusly may be used for either headlights or brake lights.

It has only one filament and emits light of relatively high intensity. The 9005 bulbs is also known as the HB3 bulb. When a bulb has one filament, it means that it can only produce light in one direction. It is quite helpful when you want to change the direction of light output.

The 9005 bulbs produce a bright, white light that is close to natural sunlight. This makes it easier to see at night and in low-light conditions. It is also less likely to cause glare, making it safer to use on the road. At the same time, the nominal power of this bulb is only 12 V: 60 W.

Most manufacturers make this bulb of 1700 Lumens which means that its brightness is really high.

The 9005 bulb has a life expectancy of 1500 hours on average. This means that it should last for about two years with regular use. If you use your headlights more often, then the bulbs may need to be replaced sooner. But even if you do have to replace them more frequently, they are still cheaper than other types of bulbs on the market.

Is 9005 high or low beam?

Most vehicle headlights offer two types of light beams: low and high. Of the options listed, only 9005 bulbs are made for high beam headlights, while 9006 and H11 bulbs work best for low beam lights. The main difference between the two is their light output and beam pattern.

High beam headlights are designed to provide a bright, wide beam of light that illuminates the road ahead of you. They are usually used in rural areas or on highways where there is little to no other traffic.

Low beam headlights, on the other hand, provide a narrower beam of light that is less likely to blind oncoming traffic. They are typically used in urban areas or when driving in foggy conditions.

Is H11 or 9005 brighter?

The wattage of the bulbs is what distinguishes them. The 9005 bulb has a wattage of 65, whereas the H11 bulb is 55 watts. The wattage determines how bright the light is. The 9005 is brighter than the H11, but it also has a shorter lifespan.

So, in case you are looking for a bright light to see better in the dark or in low-light conditions, go for the 9005 bulbs. If you are looking for a bulb with a longer lifespan, then the H11 is a better option.

What is the same as the 9005 bulb?

In the fog lights of many automobiles, an H10 or 9140, or 9145 light bulb is used, but these bulbs are virtually identical to the 9005 bulbs. Thus, in case you want to replace the current bulb in your car with a 9005, it will fit perfectly.

The 9005 and the 9140/9145 have the same P20d base, so they are also often used interchangeably. However, in order to interchange one bulb with another, drivers have to consider several aspects:

  • The light output: the 9005 is slightly brighter than the 9140/9145;
  • The beam pattern: the 9140/9145 has a wider beam, while the 9005's beam is more focused;
  • The color temperature: the 9005 has a higher color temperature, which means that it produces a whiter light.

In conclusion, we can say that the 9005 and 9140/9145 bulbs are very similar, but there are some slight differences that should be taken into account before making a decision.

What vehicle does a 9005 bulb fit?

The 9005 bulb is one of the most widely used bulbs, and it can be found in a variety of GMC/Chevrolet, Scion/Toyota/Lexus, Chrysler/Dodge, Nissan/Acura, and Ford vehicles. That is because the 9005 automotive light bulb is a popular choice for both headlights and fog lights.

So, if you're looking for a new 9005 bulb, chances are it will fit your vehicle. However, it's always best to check with your manufacturer or dealer to be sure.

Also, such cars as Chevrolet or Nissan usually use 9005 for both high and low beams, while on the other hand, Toyota uses 9005 only for fog lights. At the same time, if you are an owner of a European car, then you should know that D2S and D2R are the most common types of bulbs for xenon headlights, and they are not interchangeable with 9005.
